The Aspinwall Pet Parade

Saturday June 4th 3:00 – 5:00pm
$10/per family
Register at http://www.aspinwallpetparade.com

The first annual Aspinwall Pet Parade is for the whole family including your dog, cat, or even turtle! The event features a walking parade through Aspinwall and fun family activities including whisker face-painting, making clay paw prints, pet contests, pet portrait photographs, an agility course, and a demonstration by the Fox Chapel police K-9 unit. Families should bring pets on leashes or in crates and will walk from the riverfront through the Aspinwall business districts on Brilliant and Commercial Avenues and back to the Marina area again. Parking is available at the Aspinwall borough lot on Freeport Rd. and Commercial Ave. Stuffed animals are also welcome to attend if families do not have pets or if their pet does not walk on a leash. Prior to the event, there is a writing contest for students to write a short story about their pet or stuffed animal and describe the funniest thing their animal has ever done. Three stories will be published in the Fox Chapel Herald in the May 19th issue. Students are also encouraged to create original artwork of their pet or favorite stuffed animal and submit it for display at the event.  Details about these contests are available at www.aspinwallpetparade.com or by contacting bethhoos@yahoo.com. Local vendors and special interest groups such as the Animal Rescue League will also be at the event to educate and provide information about their organizations.  There will be a raffle and some items to purchase. Obtain more information at http://www.aspinwallpetparade.com/.
